Questions parents ask

Does my child need any experience?

No. StageSong welcomes complete beginners as well as kids who already love to perform. All that’s needed is enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go.

What ages can join?

Ages 8 to 18. Everyone works together in one group, with younger and older students learning from each other.

When and where are classes?

Thursdays from 4 to 5.30pm, in the library at Alawa Primary School. Use the school gate on Pett Street, and the library is immediately on your left.

Do classes run in the school holidays?

No. Classes take a break over the April and September school holidays.

What should my child wear and bring?

Comfortable clothing they can move in, and a water bottle.

How much does it cost?

$430 per semester. StageSong accepts NT Government Sport Vouchers, which brings the cost down to $330.

How do I use a Sport Voucher?

Apply for your child’s voucher on the NT Government website. Semester 1, 2027 vouchers open on 1 January. Then send your voucher to StageSong when you enrol and it comes off the semester fee.

Is there a performance?

Yes. Each semester ends with a performance for family and friends. In 2027, the shows are on Saturday 22 May and Saturday 20 November.

Is StageSong safe for my child?

Sian is an experienced teacher who holds a current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card). There’s a strong focus on developing social skills, no devices are permitted during sessions, and everyone is expected to treat others with kindness and respect.
