About Sian

Sian is a teacher with more than 20 years’ experience and a passion for building young people’s confidence in music and performance.

She has taught across a number of Darwin primary schools as a classroom teacher and music specialist, and has been part of the Northern Territory Music School Beat Festival for 18 years.

Her passion for supporting young people to be involved in the world of musical theatre began with a scholarship to the 2022 Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) in Newcastle. Sian then had the opportunity to observe the week-long Pilot workshops in both 2023 and 2024, giving her insight into the inner workings of staging a complete show.

Sian has coordinated many primary school performances, and in 2025 she was awarded one of 30 mentorships with the Bell Shakespeare Company, a week-long intensive workshop developing drama and performance skills.

Sian started StageSong as Darwin’s first dedicated musical theatre school for young people. In her words, the most important thing is enjoying the process of learning repertoire and sharing it with an audience, in a safe and welcoming space where everyone can challenge themselves.

StageSong’s story was featured in Off the Leash magazine.
